Chimera Hours

Feb 13,

Friday, 4:00PM

LIVE PERFORMANCE

Lilibeth Cuenca Rasmussen

COSTUME

Mich Dulce

A three-hour durational performance unfolding subtly across the fair’s spaces. In Chimera Hours, the artist functions, in effect, as a living sculpture — moving through the fair with a quiet, performative presence that may be observed, joined, or simply encountered. The work has been openly interpreted as a ritual of healing, an omen, and a kind of spell — an act of attention and transformation that situates the viewer in relation to time, space, and shared being.

VISUALS

Cliff Pama

Tierra Malvada exists at the intersection of improvisation and place. Where an unscripted, tension-laden dialogue between saxophone and guitar attempts to draw something raw and honest from a fractured land.

NOISEMAKERS

Live performance by

Gil Kuno

Flip-dot displays were invented in 1961 and were most commonly used in bus destination signs. Othello like dots are physically flipped using electro–magnets in order to articulate images or text. When each dot flips, it makes an audible click. Gil is sequencing images such that their flipping click sounds would articulate a musical composition in real time with the use of his sculptures.

Shades of Thought

VISUALS

TypeDistortDecay

A new piece that centers music as a stream of consciousness, suggestive of drifting into different imagined scenarios with subtle changes in composition and timbre. “Shades of Thought” completely accepts listening as a linear activity, but also a reminder that it is just a ‘thought’ entertained at the moment. It is a concept that stems from an interest in the difference between noise and signal, by questioning: what do we give attention to, and ultimately why?

A weaving of sound, music and cinema. Scenes from different films wrapped in layers of sound, forming music that is dreamy, saturated and textural, evoking hopefulness with melancholia.
